Partner Spotlight: Dance Marathon at the University of Washington
Miracle Network Dance Marathon is a nationwide movement involving college and high school students at more than 250 schools across the country. Students spend a year learning invaluable leadership and life skills while raising funds and interacting with hospital patients and families. At the University of Washington, the year culminates with a 8 hour-long event – UWathon – where students stay on their feet through dancing, games and entertainment in celebration of the total amount of money raised that year #ForTheKids.
DMatUW has set a goal to raise $31,000 ($1 for every UW student) during the 2019-2020 academic year for the Uncompensated Care Fund at Seattle Children’s.
Seattle Children’s provides necessary medical care to all children in our region, regardless of a family’s ability to pay. By filling in the gaps left by insurance shortfalls or the inability to pay, uncompensated care frees parents up to focus on getting their child well. This essential program fulfills Children’s founding promise to provide care to every infant, child and teen in Washington, Alaska, Montana and Idaho who needs us — regardless of insurance coverage or financial circumstances.
Since DMatUW began in 2016, they have raised nearly $70,000!
Seattle Children’s Hospital believes that all children have unique needs and should grow up without the burden of illness and injury. Children’s saw over 361,000 patients last year, many whose families could not afford the full cost of their medical care.
Thank you DMatUW for your continued commitment to kids and families at Seattle Children’s. One Generation, Fighting for the Next!
