Meet Max and Beck

May is Mental Health Awareness Month as well as Brain Tumor Awareness Month. At Seattle Children’s Hospital, we’re committed to unlocking the mysteries of the developing brain. This is one of the core pillars of It Starts With Yes: The Campaign for Seattle Children’s. We want to understand how brain disorders are connected to each other and to brain development.

We want to better serve kids like Max and Beck.

Max survived a deadly brain cancer, thanks to an innovative treatment protocol, while his younger brother, Beck, is learning to live with the challenges of OCD and ADHD.

Right now, we have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to lead this neurosciences revolution. We are poised to understand the root causes and underlying mechanisms for disorders in the areas of autism, brain tumors, epilepsy, brain injury and mental and behavioral health – moving beyond only treating the symptoms. Going after root causes means developing personalized medicine for children with brain disorders.
