Meet Alex

Autism blocked Alex’s ability to communicate until intensive speech therapy at Seattle Children’s Autism Center opened doors to new words and new worlds.

When I met Alex, she had to do therapy in a room with no furniture because she couldn’t handle any kind of distraction. She has come so far — now she’s attending elementary school and has learned to use the iPad and some verbal words to express herself. Learning to communicate with others was transformational for Alex and I really believe the sky’s the limit for her!

Seattle Children’s Autism Center relies on the generosity of people who fund life-changing technologies to help kids communicate. With the “tablet explosion,” there has been a dramatic increase in innovative verbalization tools. Many kids with autism are very interested in visuals and technology, so it’s a natural fit for them and can change their lives.

These tools are absolutely instrumental, and many kids like Alex wouldn’t have access to them without support from our donors. Thank you!
